Northwest Branch Disc Golf Course

Northwest Branch Disc Golf Course sits inside Northwest Branch Recreational Park in Silver Spring, right next to the National Capital Trolley Museum, whose lot doubles as parking for the course. Montgomery Parks — the M-NCPPC agency that owns and built it — opened it for play on November 8, 2025, calling it the department's first 18-hole disc golf course. The layout runs as two nine-hole loops, so players can pick a shorter or longer round on the same piece of park land, and it's free to play during daylight hours.

Montgomery Parks has pitched the course at newcomers as much as experienced throwers; project manager Evan Dintaman told local coverage "if you can throw a frisbee, you can play disc golf." Each hole has two tee positions built into cleared, mowed fairways connected by natural-surface paths through the rest of the park. A shaded plaza, pavilion, picnic tables, bike racks, portable restrooms and a drinking fountain were planned as a follow-on phase of construction after the course itself opened, ahead of a planned grand-opening event. Players need to bring their own discs — there's no rental or pro shop on site.
