Disc golf in Columbia

Columbia is a mid-Missouri college town — home to the University of Missouri — with a city parks system that carries four 18-hole disc golf courses. Columbia Parks and Recreation lists a local club, the Columbia Disc Golf Club, and hosts the annual Mid-America Open disc golf tournament. Two of the city's courses share a single park: Albert-Oakland Park on Blue Ridge Road has both a shorter, flatter Front course from 1979 and a longer, hillier Back course added in 1999, both free to play. On the west side of town, Harmony Bends at Strawn Park is the city's championship course — a John Houck design from 2016 that hosted the 2025 PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championship and is also free for recreation play. Terrain in Columbia's parks tends toward rolling, lightly-to-moderately wooded ground carved by Bear Creek and its tributaries, so wind exposure varies more with tree cover than with open plains.
