Disc golf in Lexington

Lexington runs four public disc golf courses through its city park system, all maintained by Lexington Parks & Recreation: 18-hole courses at Shillito Park, Veterans Park and Jacobson Park, plus a 9-hole course at River Hill Park. We currently cover three of them — Shillito, Veterans and River Hill, all on the south side of the city and within about 3 miles of each other, so a single afternoon can take in all three. Terrain in the Bluegrass region tends toward rolling hills with dense hardwood tree cover, which shows up at each course: Shillito mixes open ballfields and trail corridors with wooded stretches, Veterans runs through a tighter, mostly-wooded corridor between its ballfields and the surrounding neighborhood, and River Hill packs nine short holes into a compact neighborhood park split between mown turf and a block of hardwood.
