Gillies Creek Park Disc Golf Course

Gillies Creek Park sits in Richmond's East End at Stony Run Drive and Williamsburg Road, a 40-acre city park built around the creek that gives it its name. The City of Richmond's Parks and Recreation department maintains an 18-hole disc golf course here — one of two it runs in the city, the other being Bryan Park across town. The park also doubles as the city's only BMX race track, home to Richmond BMX, and its horseshoe pits see regular tournament play.

The course runs through a mix of open, mowed park land and tree-lined ground along the creek, with very little elevation change. It's free to play and open sunrise to sunset. River City Disc Golf Club, the local club, has funded updated baskets here in recent years and runs its one-day Battlefield Open partly on this course. Dogs are not permitted at Gillies Creek — the city restricts off-leash and on-leash park dogs to a separate list of designated dog parks — so leave pets at home if you're making the trip.
