T.C. Jester Park Disc Golf Course

T.C. Jester Park runs along White Oak Bayou in the largely residential Oak Forest/Garden Oaks area of northwest Houston, and it takes its name from the boulevard beside it. That road was White Oak Drive until it was renamed for Dr. Thomas C. Jester (1884–1950), the Baptist Temple pastor who sat on the Houston City Planning Commission formed in 1940 and helped shape the 1942 plan that promoted the street's development. The park is open dawn to dusk and shares its grounds with a community pool, seasonal splash pads, a dog park, playgrounds and sports fields, with the White Oak Bayou Trail running straight out of it.

The disc golf course is 21 holes, playing to a par of 64 over roughly 6,600 feet. It's flat — around 61 feet of elevation with no real relief — and mixed in cover, with scattered trees and shrub along the bayou breaking up otherwise open ground. It's free and public, with parking, restrooms, drinking water, picnic areas and trails on site. The Houston Flying Disc Society, a nonprofit founded in 1991 that acts as the City of Houston Parks Department's citywide course adoption agency, runs its Wednesday league here in six-week seasonal sessions across four skill divisions.
