Walnut Hill Park is 71 acres in Columbus's Far East community, on the site of the city-run golf course of the same name. Roughly 30 of those acres now hold an 18-hole disc golf course, designed in 2015 with input from local and regional disc golf designers and players and funded entirely, per the city, out of PDO funds. Each hole has a short and a long tee pad and two basket locations, which lets the parks department move pins to rest worn ground and change the round.
Because it's built on old fairways, it plays more open than most courses in central Ohio — the Columbus Flyers Disc Golf Club calls it their links-style course, and their most cart-friendly. It runs between about 6,370 and 8,065 feet depending on which tees and pins are in play, which puts it in intermediate-to-advanced range from the back. Summer rough off the fairway is deep enough to lose a disc in. The park is free, open sunrise to sunset, with parking, an open-air shelter, a playground, a paved path and a portable restroom.
