Savanna Dunes Disc Golf Course

Savanna Dunes is Anoka County's 18-hole disc golf course inside Bunker Hills Regional Park, on the Andover side of a park whose land also reaches into Coon Rapids. The county lists it at par 59 and more than 6,200 feet, with a mix of par 3s and par 4s — noticeably more course than the short, free 9-hole layouts inside Minneapolis and St. Paul. Anoka County's description is of open and narrow fairways meandering through native oaks, pines and grassy terrain with slight elevation change on most holes, which matches the sand-savanna landscape that gives the course its name.

The one thing to check before driving out: this is a regional park, and an Anoka County vehicle entry permit is required — $7 for the day or $30 for the year, good across the county system. The park is open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the surrounding grounds include a campground, picnic pavilions, a dog park, archery and horseback riding, cross-country ski trails in winter, and the Bunker Beach water park with its wave pool and lazy river.
