Hudson Mills Metropark Original Disc Golf Course

Hudson Mills Metropark sits on the Huron River off North Territorial Road, northwest of Dexter, and is run by the Huron-Clinton Metroparks, the regional park agency for the five-county Detroit area. It carries two 24-hole disc golf courses rather than the usual eighteen — the Original and the Monster. The Metroparks describe the Original as slightly hilly with a mixture of open and tight wooded fairways, and the Monster as much the same but significantly longer. Neither course is lit, so even though the park stays open until 10 p.m., a 24-hole round has to start with daylight to spare.

This is pay-to-play, and there are two separate charges. Disc golf costs $3 for a daily wristband, bought at the toll booth or the park office, or $60 for an annual bag tag that also covers the courses at Kensington, Stony Creek and Willow Metroparks. On top of that the Metroparks charge vehicle entry — $10 for a day or $40 for a resident annual pass. Discs can be rented at the park's Activity Center if you turn up without a bag. Ann Arbor's two free city courses are roughly ten and fourteen miles southeast if you'd rather not pay.
