Triangle Sports Area Disc Golf Course

Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry runs two disc golf courses, and this is the bigger one: 18 holes at the Triangle Sports Area on Beverly Road, on the city's east side above Baird Creek. The city lists every hole as a par 3, which puts the course at par 54, and says a full round takes about an hour. There is no fee and no permit; the season runs April through November and the gates are open 6 a.m. until dusk daily. Green Bay's own description calls it one of the premier disc golf courses in Wisconsin and says it appeals to beginners and advanced players alike.

What makes it play harder than the short scorecard suggests is the ground itself. The Triangle Sports Area doubles as Green Bay's municipal winter hill, with a city-operated ski and snowboard rope tow and a separate tubing tow that run only in winter, and USGS elevation readings across the property range from roughly 600 feet down by Baird Creek to just over 700 feet at the top. That is about 100 feet of vertical inside one park, so uphill and downhill shots and blind landing zones come with the territory. The rest of the site is deciduous woods threaded by the Baird Creek Multi-Use Trail, with mowed clearings around the hill itself, so lines alternate between open and tree-lined.
