Jim Barnett Park Disc Golf Course

Jim Barnett Park is the City of Winchester's main park, and its 18-hole disc golf course runs straight through the middle of it, mixing wooded holes with stretches of open mowed ground. The city publishes a full hole-by-hole guide: two tee sets, white totalling about 5,160 feet and blue about 6,700, with par 70 on both cards. This is genuinely hilly ground for a municipal course — USGS elevation data across the mapped tees and baskets spans 84 feet, and the city's own notes describe hole after hole banking uphill or dropping toward the basket.

Hole 6 is the one people remember: an island green, with a penalty and a marked drop area if you come up short. Hole 7 is the longest at 452 feet from white and 640 from blue, with telephone poles standing in the fairway, and the city calls hole 18 the hardest — a left-curving line through thick forest with a steep grade near the basket. The course is free to play and discs are available to rent. Several fairways finish near park roads, so watch for cars and pedestrians on 5, 9 and 10.
