About this course

Cypress Point Park is about 35 acres of City of Tampa waterfront on Old Tampa Bay, west of the airport, and the disc golf course uses nearly all of it. The city puts the course at 18 holes and 7,980 feet, with concrete tees and what it calls mixed foliage — that means long open stretches near the water alternating with tight lines through oak and palm, and a creek that comes into play on two holes. There is essentially no elevation here; the course sits about five feet above sea level and everything the layout does to you comes from trees, water and wind off the bay.

The park itself is a working neighborhood park rather than a dedicated disc golf facility: white sand beach, canoe launch, boardwalk, playground, sand volleyball, picnic shelters and roughly 1.3 miles of asphalt and nature trail. Restrooms, outside showers and ample parking are on site, and it's free — no gate fee, sunrise to sunset. Two things to plan for. Low ground holds water, so fairways can be genuinely wet for days after summer rain. And the park sits under the approach path to Tampa International, so planes are a constant overhead. November through April is the season worth targeting.
