Scored for open terrain
Johnny Roberts Disc Golf Course occupies Memorial Park in Arvada, a Jefferson County suburb northwest of downtown Denver, on the block behind City Hall and the police headquarters at 8001 W 59th Ave. The course dates to 1978 and was originally laid out by Ed Headrick, the designer generally credited as the father of the sport; John Bird redesigned it in 2014. Eighteen holes are packed into a flat neighborhood park at about 5,300 feet, so lines are mostly open, mature shade trees do most of the shot-shaping, and Ralston Creek crosses the layout in several places.
It's free, it's on public land, and the City of Arvada's own description — "a short 18-hole course that is often very busy" — is a fair warning. The park has off-street parking, a playground, picnic tables, a reservable pavilion, a skate park, year-round portable toilets, and a connection to the Ralston Creek Trail. Holes 2 and 3 were closed from late February through April 2026 while the city repaired creek crossings and mitigated erosion, so it's worth checking the city's disc golf page before driving out.
