Leverich Park Disc Golf Course

Leverich Park runs along Burnt Bridge Creek in north-central Vancouver, tucked immediately east of Interstate 5. Anna Leverich deeded the ground to the city for park use, and it opened as a municipal park in 1931 — the same year an obelisk and a Douglas fir went in to mark the George Washington bicentennial. When I-5 was pushed through Vancouver in the late 1950s it split the park, cutting the obelisk and the historic Covington House cabin off from the main grounds. Most of the remaining park has been left in native firs, deciduous trees and scattered cedars.

The twelve-hole disc golf course dates to 2008, built by Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation together with Vancouver-Clark Disc Golf and Stumptown Disc Golf. It is the only course listed in the City of Vancouver's park amenity directory, which makes a small, wooded, 16-acre park the city's default place to throw. The park is also the trailhead for the Burnt Bridge Creek Trail and carries the usual neighborhood-park load — picnic tables, barbecue grills, horseshoes, a multi-use field, play equipment and a shelter — so expect to share the ground. Hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.; the city currently has the restrooms posted as closed.
