Riverside Park Disc Golf Course

Riverside Park is a Pierce County park set in floodplain habitat along the Puyallup River in Sumner, reached off Riverside Drive near the Highway 410/Valley Avenue interchange. The county's own listing describes an 18-hole, tournament-quality disc golf course with Innova baskets and concrete tees. The Pierce County Disc Golf Players Association (PCDGA), an all-volunteer nonprofit, maintains the course and dates it to 1993; the club describes minimal elevation change, a mix of wooded and open holes, and the river itself coming into play on a few of them. Because hole 15 can be set up as either a par 3 or a par 4, the club lists the course's total yardage and par as variable — roughly 5,487 to 6,466 feet and par 55 or 56 depending on which tees and pin position are used.

Pierce County has publicly noted that Riverside Park sits within a 'deep and/or fast flowing' water floodway, which limits any future improvements, and the county is currently working with the PCDGA and Riverside BMX on a plan to relocate both activities to a new site within the next one to four years. As of this writing the course remains open and is still the PCDGA's primary competition venue, but out-of-town visitors should check the county's Disc Golf page for current status before making a special trip.
