Live Oak Hillside Disc Golf Course

Live Oak Hillside is one of two disc golf courses in Main City Park in Live Oak, a San Antonio suburb in Bexar County. Both were designed by John Houck and paid for with funding from the Live Oak Economic Development Corporation, and the city describes them as championship courses that have hosted several nationwide tournaments. The course begins near the park's sports fields.

As the name suggests, it plays across a wooded hillside with real elevation change, at a par of 67 over roughly 6,675 feet — a length that rewards course management and shot shaping over pure distance. The park itself covers about 75 acres, was created in 1971 on donated land, doubles as a flood-control project, and adds ball fields, playgrounds, a skate spot, restrooms and a nearly 2-mile trail around the lake. Play is free and public, and the park is open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Main City Park courses also host the Live Oak Summer Open each spring, the longest-running disc golf tournament in the San Antonio area, which drew around 300 players for its 21st edition in May 2024.
