Milo McIver State Park Disc Golf Course

Milo McIver State Park runs along the Clackamas River a few miles northwest of Estacada, roughly 45 minutes from Portland, and its 27 holes of disc golf are the reason a lot of players make the drive. The holes are split across two courses at and around the Riverbend day-use area: an 18-hole layout on the east side of the park and a shorter 9-hole course to the west. Both weave through second-growth conifer forest and river-bottom meadows with real rolling terrain, and both stay open year round. Oregon State Parks rents and sells discs at the park office, which makes it an easy stop if you're passing through without gear.

Scoring skews toward par 3s, with a handful of par 4s and a par 5 that put a premium on distance. Clackamas County's tourism office calls Milo McIver the centerpiece of Estacada's disc golf scene — the town has four courses across three parks — and the longtime home of the Beaver State Fling. Practical notes: the park charges a day-use parking permit, sold at the entrance booth or as a 12- or 24-month permit online (campers can display their camping receipt instead), and posted hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The campground is seasonal, March 20 through October 31, but day use and disc golf are not.
