Clay Central Park Disc Golf Course

Clay Central Park is the Town of Clay's townwide park, on the Liverpool side of Onondaga County about eight miles north of downtown Syracuse. The town lists a "PDGA 36-Hole Disc Golf Course" here, which in practice is two separate 18-hole layouts: Clay Central Park West, off Wetzel Road, and Eastwoods. The Central New York Disc Golf Association maintains both and calls Eastwoods "a more wooded companion to the west course."

The west layout mixes open park ground with six wooded holes and three holes measuring over 550 feet, so there is room to open up a driver in places and to work around trees in others. The ground is flat — the park sits at just under 400 feet on the plain south of Lake Ontario — and the two layouts share the park with an amphitheater, football and soccer fields, softball and baseball diamonds, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, pavilions with electricity, and restrooms. Two entrances serve the park, on Wetzel Road and Henry Clay Boulevard, and townwide park hours run 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Lake-effect snow off Ontario closes things down through the winter; May through October is the practical season.
