Disc golf in Los Alamos

Disc golf in Los Alamos means North Mesa — a free nine-hole county course beside the North Mesa Picnic Grounds, on the mesa above Bayo Canyon. The Los Alamos County Parks and Recreation Department built it as the county's first permanent public course and cut the ribbon in July 2012. It's short and technical, using the mesa's trees, shrubs and canyon edges as obstacles rather than constructed ones, and at roughly 7,300 feet the thin air changes how every disc flies. The nearest other course on the site is Jaguar Ridge in Santa Fe, about 23 miles southeast.
