Buffumville Lake Disc Golf Course

Buffumville Lake is a 200-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers flood-control project in Charlton, managed as a unit with the nearby Hodges Village Dam and open year-round for recreation. The disc golf course runs through the woods at the dam site, on the strip of Corps land between the lake itself and Buffum Pond below the outlet. Hole counts differ by source: the Corps of Engineers states the course has 18 professional holes, while Wikipedia and The Last Green Valley's directory both describe it as a 27-hole course covering amateur through pro positions. There is no charge to play — The Last Green Valley notes no fee on Corps property — though the developed side of the park, with its 300-foot swimming beach, picnic sites, volleyball court and horseshoe pit, operates as a day-use fee area and is open daily from mid-May through mid-September. Beyond the course, the 7.2-mile blue-blazed Lake Shore Trail starts in the park and circles the shoreline, and there are two barrier-free fishing platforms and a concrete boat launch. Park rangers run interpretive programs on water safety, natural resources and dam tours during the season.
