Wildwood Park Disc Golf Course

Wildwood Park is 29 acres of woods off Barclay Circle in south Marietta, land the city acquired from the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1977 as Air Force surplus. Marietta's 2010–2020 recreation master plan identified disc golfers as a group the city's facilities weren't serving, and Wildwood had the acreage to fix that. The Cobb County Disc Golf Club was brought in to set the layout, working for months with temporary baskets to find tee pad and basket placements, holding volunteer workdays for tree and brush removal, and — for two months — grazing goats to clear underbrush. A $500,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant through Georgia DNR paid for the course and related improvements, and the city cut the ribbon on October 30, 2025.

The course runs 18 Blue baskets, with a shorter White set appearing on every odd-numbered hole. The club wanted a natural, competitive-level course that used trees and changing topography as the challenge rather than open ground, and the city kept tree removal to hazard trees and the minimum needed to shape fairways, so the wooded character is intact. Par and yardage aren't published. It's free, open 6 a.m. to sunset, with a parking lot, restroom, picnic shelters, a one-mile jogging trail and a 1.4-acre fenced off-leash dog area whose entrance and fencing were rebuilt as part of the same project.
