Bill Frederick Park T2 — The Turkeynator

T2, known locally as "The Turkeynator," is one of three 18-hole disc golf courses at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, a 183-acre City of Orlando park on the west side of the city. The other two layouts are the Original course and The Woods, so a trip out here can easily turn into 36 or 54 holes. T2 was designed by World Champion Disc Golf Design, the firm run by three-time world champion Gregg Hosfeld, who is also listed as the park's course pro. It plays from four tee sets — blue, white, red and green — which makes it straightforward to match the layout to your game. The ground is flat, around 130 feet of elevation, and about half open and half wooded.

The fee here is collected at the park gate rather than at the course: $5 per car per day, $2 if you walk or bike in, and $1 per person for buses and 15- or 16-passenger vans. Park hours run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from November through March and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from April through October, with the park closed December 24 and 25. The city sometimes closes the disc golf courses for special events and posts a list of those dates, which is worth a look before you drive out. Restrooms, picnic tables, playgrounds and walking trails are all on site, and the cooler months are the comfortable ones — Central Florida summers here are hot and storm-prone.
