Golden Gate Park Disc Golf Course

Threaded into Marx Meadow on the north side of Golden Gate Park, this 18-hole course is one of the best urban disc golf experiences in the country. It began as a nine-hole trial around 2005 and opened in full in 2007, designed and hand-built by volunteers Leonard Muise and Ross Hammond with the San Francisco Disc Golf Club — a genuine community project on public parkland.

Don't expect big, open bombs. The course is tight and tree-lined, framed by towering eucalyptus and cypress, and it rewards placement and shot shaping over raw power. It's mostly flat, but the coastal wind and fog that roll through the park can change the read on any given day. It carries a ~4.6-star UDisc rating from around 9,000 rounds and hosts the PDGA A-tier San Francisco Safari each year, plus weekly club leagues. Free, public, and easy to reach — just come ready to share a busy course.
